Basic Organization of Computer

The working of a computer system can be divided into units like input unit, and output unit, etc. Every single unit is connected to another unit, but each unit is responsible to performs the specific function as follows

Block Diagram of Computer

Input Unit:

It accepts input from the user.
It converts user data into acceptable computer form with the help of controllers/converters.
It transmits the converted information to the next unit for processing and storage.

Output Unit:
It accepts the output of the processing unit in digital form as an Input.
It converts this digital form into a human-readable form.
It transfers information to the output unit like VDU (Monitor).

Storage Unit:

A storage unit provides storage space for processing input data from the user. Storage can be two types Primary and Secondary. Primary storage is temporary whereas secondary storage is permanent.

Central Processing Unit (CPU):

CPU is the brain of the computer, all types of computer operations are done in the CPU.CPU is a combination of ALU and CU.

Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)

All types of arithmetic operations, calculations, and compression operations are done in ALU.

Control Unit (CU)

CU is the nervous system of the computer, it is responsible for controlling all computer units.
